WORKSHOPS + COURSES

HEY,

We all have the right to suck. In fact, we *must* suck before we get good. That’s the deal. Writing is messy, awkward, and often feels like shouting into the void with nothing but typos and half-formed ideas to show for it. But that’s why we call it a writing practice, because it takes repetition, bravery, and a whole lot of ‘ugh, this is terrible’ before the magic shows up.

BWC exists so you don’t have to do it alone.

what our workshops are all about

Our online and in-person creative writing workshops and courses are built for every kind of writer; absolute beginners, secret scribblers, emerging authors, or seasoned pros needing a reboot. Our in-person workshops currently take place at the Chestnut Tree Bookshop and Cafe on Barkly St in West Footscray. It’s a wonderfully cosy intimate shop.

Bad Writers Club workshops are a space to:

• Try stuff, make mistakes, and experiment wildly

• Learn practical writing tools (without the boring bits)

• Explore character, conflict, structure, and theme in fun, bite-sized ways

• Share work (even messy drafts) in a safe, no-judgement zone

• Build momentum for your projects while having a laugh

No gatekeeping. No pressure to be perfect. Just writers supporting writers, daring to suck together, and sneakily getting better.
