WHAT IS THE BWC?
Bad Writers Club is the brainchild of Ashley Ellis and Donita Richards.
BWC was born out of a desire to write with freedom and wild abandon … to write and create with no limitations, judgement, or self-imposed barriers.
We all have the right to suck … in fact, we MUST suck before we get GOOD! It takes bravery to keep going when it feels like everything that comes out is utter shit … but there’s a reason we call it a writing PRACTICE. Good writing comes with time and repetition, but it can be a really hard and lonely experience, so we created BWC. A place for all kinds of writers to be together, try stuff, make mistakes, learn stuff, and have a massive amount of fun in the process.
BWC is more than a writing club. It’s a place to suck in safety, while growing, stretching yourself to be better, and surrounding yourself with folks who get it.
THE TEAM

Donita is a professional writer and editor, and creative writing coach with over five years of experience. Donita loves working with writers of fiction and non-fiction at every stage of the journey. As co-founder of Bad Writers Club, she believes every writer deserves a creative home where their voice can grow, and she aims to provide a welcoming judgement-free space for all.

Amanda is a screenwriter, actor, and writing coach with a Master’s in Screenwriting. She lives for character arcs, conflict, and transformation–on the page and in the writer. Her screenwriting chops give her an edge as a developmental editor: sharp eyes for pacing and keeping every beat on point. She builds courses for BWC and thrives on helping writers push their stories–and themselves–to the next level.

Aud is an author, tarot reader and co-writing facilitator. They have honed their skills at developmental editing in the field, spending many late nights beta-reading manuscripts for emerging authors.
They are deeply passionate about supporting writers and creatives.
Their debut novel, DEVILS + HEARTBREAK, was published in November 2024.
